The TIME is here again on Sunday March 11th, 2018 at 2:00 a.m. to turn our clocks forward an hour. Sure, you will lose an hour sleep, but more daylight is what we look forward to most. There’s a period of adjustment getting our bearings on sleeping and waking, but we soon get used to the new schedule. Hopefully by having the time change we will be seeing warmer weather move in.
The Spring Equinox will be on Tuesday, March 20th. That means daylight will be pretty close to being equal TIME to darkness. According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, it is the day we celebrate the first day of spring, but technically it may not be exactly the first day of spring. There was a time growing up when you could count on “In like a Lion and out like a Lamb.” It can be true, but not always consistent when it comes to weather prediction. Timely, in March, as kids, we were buying wind jackets and storing our heavy coats away. We couldn’t wait to pick out the perfect kite to build and fly. We’d make sure we tore rag strips from old t-shirts to tie on the kite “tail” to help weigh the kite string down a bit, so the kite could be controlled when the wind would grab it. It was nice enough out to find our friends in the neighborhood and search for 4-leaf clovers too. For good luck, if we found any, we’d ask our parents for wax paper to wrap around it and press it in a book. The things that bring back a certain TIME in our lives depends a lot on the season it occurred.
TIME is important in our lives. It brings back memories, keeps us on schedule and when we are caught up in a good book or watching nature flourish we wonder where the TIME went. The one important thing to remember…when it’s TIME to move the clock hands it’s TIME to check the batteries in the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Reminding us twice a year to keep our homes and family safe, because we want to have as much TIME with our loved ones as we possibly can!
